Iron Review

I have had so many irons in my quilting career I lost count.  I have had very expensive, top of the line ones, and I have also had cheap ones.  I have found that the inexpensive ones work just as well, sometimes better.  My iron died  today, and I had to replace it.  I bought one of the cheapest ones they had (around $10.00).  This is a Rival Steam Wave and I love it.  It has a non stick soleplate, spray mist, and variable steam and fabric dial.  I was quite impressed.  Heats up very quickly.  It also has different settings for different types of fabrics.  The only thing it is missing is the auto shut off feature.  I always forget to turn off and unplug my iron, so I fixed that by plugging it into my surge protector.  That always gets shut off when I leave the house, or leave the room.

Definitely thumbs up and worth the investment.

I agree the cheap ones work just fine. My Rowenta only lasted about a year. I have a cheap Shark now and I love it.

Funny, The Rival replaced my Shark. I think it was pricey, not at the top, but I don't think it was cheap either, I don't remember.

I've had so many irons over the last 35 years of marriage that I can't count them. I have never had one that I love. I'll have to look for the Rival Steam Wave the next time I need a new iron. At the rate I go through irons, it won't be long!

After being without a working iron for so long, I think I would be happy with anything that heats up, and let's steam out. Time will tell, the real test is to see how long it works for.
I only had it one night.

Thanks for your iron review Renee. I have to agree with Sandy, I have been through many irons over the years and am contemplating a new iron, maybe I'll try the one you purchased!

Okay this iron is bad. It just died and didn't even make it a month. Replaced it yesterday.
